On the Mend

Hey! So I wrote this from the comfort of my mothers sofa! I had to have a little wee operation last Friday. It all started when I had my right ovary removed two years ago. I was having similar pain on my left side and had a few blood tests and scans. They found a few lumps in my womb, so I went in to for an exploratory operation as well as lump removal. Its crazy how things affect you so much when you think something can be taken away so easily. I was fretting for a while they would have to take my ovary and possible my womb. I've always loved kids, I adore my nieces and nephews, and some weeks having a child seems like the best idea and then other weeks I feel quite content just by myself. Although I would definitely need to work on finding someone to impregnate me, I've been singe for years! Anyway once the thought of that choice being taken away, all I could think about was ruddy babies!
They were everywhere, and the buggers were cute, damn cute!! Ahh my ovaries, sorry ovary was going crazy! Annnnyhoooo, post op I woke to my ovary still where it should be! Winning!

So I'm back to thinking, do I really want kids! HA!! They are noisy and smelly but they are pretty awesome, so who knows, buy for now I'm back on track and have soo many fun plans in the pipe line!

Season Change

I'm on bed rest for the week, so I have  been catching up with lots of stuff! One thing that's got me thinking is next season. I KNOW,  I know, summer hasn't even arrived yet to Scotland and I'm thinking fall! Well, it's actually not a bad thing if your a thrifty shopper. It's sale time and since I'm not on my feet I'm online shopping. I'm  looking for crossover pieces that will take me into winter, but what does Winter fashion have it store for us?

For fall 2016 the 70s will cross over, so keep any dresses, skirts and trousers the will move effortlessly from summer to winter. Adding in tights, turtlenecks, fur and wide-brimmed hats to bring it up to date. Think bohemian, hippy, retro, folk, add in details like fringing, bold 70's prints. Layer up on those cold days with turtle necks, they are big for winter.

The 'Mod' look is strong this fall which I'm super happy about, this is one of my favourite eras, I would say my legs are my best feature, so I'm always happy to get the pins out in a short skirt.  Black and white colour block will be in stores which lend itself to the mod look also. When switching up your style in the cold months from your bohemian winter look take yours must have turtle neck add in the micro mini and you have the perfect Mod outfit. Not a fan of the micro, then the midi and even floor length, look out for pleats and ruffles. Watch out for the new Carwash pleat hitting stores.

Fur is a big thing this year, which I'm very pleased about, Emma loves her fur! Fur stoles and fur cuffs (trying not to laugh) were found on the catwalks, pockets were enlarged in contrasting colour of fur and leather (I'm looking into different fur colours myself, I'm thinking of making a few wee accessories for my winter Popup). Feathers were also seen, from hems on trousers to full-on feather skirts and even working its way to he upper half! I'm big chested so will skip that, but I'm looking forward to seeing what fur minis are available to buy. Keep it simple and team it with a turtleneck, see, the turtleneck is a recurring theme this winter, so stock up on colours! If fur isn't your bag baby, then padding will keep you warm in the winter months and belted wool wrap coats will suit everyone and show off your curves.

High waists are here to stay, and on the pant front we are looking at tailored wide, flared and skinnies. Huzzah a look all shapes can rock this winter! Grey is a big colour this season, so look out for many tones to drop in the shops. I'm going to be keeping an eye out in the charity's shops for nice wools, and tweeds! Get looking now, before winter kicks in! Look out for oversized and masculine pieces while shopping. Culottes are moving into winter too so hold onto those more classic styles from summer.

Leather is big and if you have the figure to carry it off then get rocking those leather skinnies, failing that its leather anything! Yay! Skirt, dresses and coats and knee high and thigh is back, so dust your vintage classics from your wardrobe and start strutting! Autumnal colours are what you are looking for in leather and suede and that good old trusty classic black will always be a winner. I have my eyes on some thigh high maroon suede boots!! Eeeeeek! Must not get excited about winter!

Accessories this fall will see us rocking braces, sus-spend- dors to our American friends! Wide belts are back, which is great for achieving a fabulous waist and showing off those curves! Stock up tights too, all styles, perfect for adding to you micro mini! Ladylike jewellery and embellishment will be popping up everywhere.

It is an exciting season this Fall! I find sometimes certain body shapes are neglected, but there is something for everyone this year!

I took myself online and found Topshop, River Island, Zara, H&M and ASOS for some bargains that will take you into winter.  I want it ALL god damn it!!

Happy shopping.

Enough winter talk, where's that bloody sun...?

I have Style block!

I haven't blogged in a while for many reasons. I'm not sure what I want to do with my blog. I love clothes and style but I have fashion block! I don't mean writing block I mean personally I have no clue what I'm doing with myself and my style. If I'm not happy with my style why blog about it!? I used to dress for me and it was eclectic. I like that I stood out. I dressed ONLY for me. My friends would be in jeans and I would bowl in with a fifties dress and feel totally comfortable. What's changed? Well I think one thing is I have moved home to Edinburgh. I haven't lived here since I was a confused skateboard Betty of 18! Where I would grace the club's and bars with shaved lilac hair baggy jeans and a skimpy tight girly top! Tomboy bottom, tits top! When I moved to London I carried on with the tomboy tits top look but it gradually altered, I started wearing dresses and skirts! Then I met Ruby she was a 50s Vintage Siren. I adored her style and the sex appeal she oozed. She was confident and funny and we became friends. She tought me about vintage. I always stayed in at home and watched all the black and white movies as a kid. I always felt a connection and now I was emerging myself into the whole scene with Ruby. I was a 50s girl 24/7. I finally found the style to suit my curves and learned that fashion was about what works with you and not what's parading down the catwalks and pictured in magazines. There is always going to be a style that will suit you every season it's how you work it in your own way that makes it fashion. That being said the all day every day 50s took its toll.  I'm a rock chick too. I love punk, mod, ska, nothern soul I felt I was devoting my self to one decade. So I decided to change up my wardrobe again. I'll always be a vintage girl but I don't want to pigeon hole myself to one era. I need more choice for my ever changing waking mood. Now all that's decided I need to stamp out my own style again. So I'm looking for bright colours and bold patterns and quirky accessories. I'm also on Bloglovin a little late I know, but I need to feel inspired. I'm also toying with Pintrest too. I see so many little things that inspire on a day that it's difficult for my little pea brain to remember. Is this the best way? I'm I missing anything new?  Other thoughts are a YouTube channel. I buy a lot of charity shop bits in a week that a think a little round up once a week and a styling of outfits might be fun?

And if the summer could hurry the F up, then it would be a touch easier. I can't get motivated in this gloomy weather!

PACKING LIGHT!

I am off to Barcelona for a long weekend. Its my good friend Nicolas birthday and we decided to take a short break. Nicola is a photographer at Nicola Bald Photography and I work as her Admin assistant, we are also joined by Pedram who is part of her sales team. After much thought and a hmm to Amsterdam (they smoke ,I don't) we finally decided to catch some sun.
Anyways its been busy of late at the studio, shoot after shoot! People being ill, weather being, well shitty, we have earned this mini vacay.

Its a four day trip and from previous trips I am still learning to pack just enough. I took two suitcases for a 5 day trip to Cochella festival! After that I learned to try at least pack less. MUCH less!  So much so, that my three week Thailand trip I took but only a back pack!! YESSS!!! Nailed it!
So for this weekend and because my budget is coming into play I am being frugal and trying not to buy much. I am taking a mini suitcase as we are flying Ryainair (never flew this airline before) and I have heard the fuckers charge for errrrthing!!

This may seem a bit too much but I do like choices! The little thing I do have going for me is I knows how to pack! Yessiree I have the 'roll' technique down! ( see above) This is the only packing technique I use. I passed this on to my friend who is a flight attendant, he's a convert! It gives you so much more space to pack extra or also use smaller cases if needed. So I have managed to get all this in my tiny suitcase and I am ready to go!!

In my suitcase,
2 x Shorts
3 x Tees ( grey, white and black)
5 Dresses (mix day and evening)
1 x Swimsuit
1 x Swedish Hasbeens Clogs
1 x Flip flops
2 x Hats
1  Cashmere hoodie
Light jacket
Mini umbrella (you never know!)
Travel bottles of products
Underwear

Lets see how many outfits I can create from this little suitcase!!
Eeeek
