Label Lusting - Lavish Alice

This month I'm label checking 'Lavish Alice'
Popping up more and more, you will find this brand on their own site as well as ASOS , Very and Studio and also stocking to a few select stores nationwide. This label is at the forefront of  fashion but without the high price tag. Lavish Alice is breath of fresh air from the usual online fashion stores. They work on the premise that they give back to there fans. If your not following them on instagram, you really should. They are big on social media and release a lot of their news through it, Exclusive invites and even sending out an occasional freebie to their followers as well as doing collaborations with bloggers. (Pick me, Pick me!!)
Not only are their designs pretty on point, their prices are too. Affordable fashion, this something that I can get on board with.

Check their full collections at www.lavishalice.com

They also have their own blog, were you can read about fashion week, celebrities and also to help you in styling your own Lavish Alice outfits

Label Lusting - The Finery London

You can't open a magazine or online fashion stalk without seeing fashions 'label love' of the moment Finery London.

You can see why its the go to label of the moment , it has a little something for everyone. This clever bunch of creatives have hit the fashion nail on its head and come up trumps with their affordable designs that will stick in your wardrobe for seasons.
Their designs are creatively simple and stylish with a great pop of colour that runs through their collection.

Their website reads; "It's simple: we want to make modern, inspiring and sophisticated styling accessible, without compromising on quality. Our collections are designed and made with love, and we think that shows in the clothes." They go on to say "Carefully considered and detail driven, our confident collections have just the right amount of fun. We want you to feel fabulous in our clothes. This isn't about fast fashion, it's about pieces to truly treasure."

Below are my favourite pieces, but don't take my word for it, head to Finery yourself and decide if the all the talk is worth it... it is!

Balmain - The Thirst is Real

Oooh girl you thirsty!
The Balmain drop has landed and EVERYONE is going crazy!
I know, I know I just wrote a piece on Balmain dropping at H&M and how excited I am about it, but I am severely over it and its only just hit the shops.
If you haven't already, and to be honest I think everyone has seen the footage of the rush when H&M opened their doors, but if you haven't, then check this out..
As much as the designs are beautiful, EVERYONE is going to wearing it! For this reason as they say on 'Dragon Den', Im out.
I really don't care how much you paid either, because if you are one of those ones that took to eBay to buy, well that just makes it worse.
The Beaded embellished dress is on Ebay for 2299.99 with the coveted Embellished Blazer going for 1985.00, what in the hell!??

Ladies lets just take a second here, are you sure you want to part you hard earned cash on this?
They are designed by the very talented Oliver Rousteing, but they are still made in the same factory as all regular H&M collections. Not knocking the talents of their seamstresses, but that embellished coat you love and paid top whack for is going to eventually fall apart.
So I urge you lovlies to go and check eBay properly whilst shopping for that must have Balmain item..
Here are a few designer items I have found for the same cost or less on eBay..

Peruse and quench you fashion thirst over the likes of Oscar De La Renta, Chanel, Balenciaga and Moschino and step away from Balmain.
Oh and if you simply must have Balmain, why not instead of spending 2,00.00 on The Balmain x H&M Blazer
Go for this REAL Balmain Leopard Print Biker Jacket , it makes sense?

UBER has arrived in Edinburgh

HUZZAH!!

Uber has arrived in Edinburgh! Have you heard of Uber? Well for those who haven't then you simply must check this out!

Their website states;
"Uber is evolving the way the world moves. By seamlessly connecting riders to drivers through our apps, we make cities more accessible, opening up more possibilities for riders and more business for drivers. From our founding in 2009 to our launches in hundreds of cities today, Uber's rapidly expanding global presence continues to bring people and their cities closer."

This Uber cheap (see what I did there?) cab company is working in 64 countries, and finally at last reaching us in Bonnie Scotland. I used the company a lot whilst living in New York and luckily it launched on the eve of Christian McLeod show in Glasgow, the difference in price for a cab back to Edinburgh was quite considerable, we were quoted £125 and Uber only charged us £60. Winner!

Last night it launched in Edinburgh and I for one am a happy little Bunny... or Bear even!

It is a simple app where your phones GPS system will pick up where you are then you add your chosen destination and then hit 'get fare estimate' and Boom! Simple as that, you can even see you little car on your Uber app get closer to you on you map, with updated times of arrival and your drivers name, picture and license plate number. No cash needs to exchange as Uber will deduct the fair once you have reached your destination from either your paypal or you bank account. Perfect!

Hello Glasgow..

Today I  am in Glasgow for a 'Glenfidich' Event with my girl Miss Kelly Bakewell.
As two ladies not to waste an opportunity to maximize a day , we booked ourselves for a facialplanned a lunch and then do a little shopping. Well I say 'we' booked in for a facial , I actually mean Kelly booked us in ! Sadly I must admit I have never been for a facial before. Not to be a dick but I  have been blessed with pretty good skin so I guess I have just taken it for granted and really not bothered too much about all the fancy facey things! Of course telling Kelly this over drinks , she looked like she was about to slap me into next week when I told her my beauty routine (wash face, slap cream on).

Anyway we met at Savannah Beauty Centre at Menzies Hotel and had a facial and head massage. Cant believe at my age (a very young age! Shhh) I have never done this before, it is crazy! This my little bunnies is not, repeat NOT a luxuryit is a fundunking necessity, I'm being total serious! I felt awesome after.

Jamie worked wonders
after a long night of little sleep ( not a story for here*wink wink*) I was super relaxed and ready to take on the day.

As we were leaving the girls gave us numerous candles to smell and we picked our favourite.. We both chose Happyness! Thank goodness right! Ha Anyway the delightful Miss Bakewell bought me the  Neom organic Intensive Mood Lifting scent in 'Happy' ..ahhh bliss!

Then it was off to Blow in Finneston to watch Kelly get her mint green roots done. Whilst sitting writing this I was treated to a lovely candy cocktail and some yummy popcorn, thanks to the lovely ladies of Blow for letting me plug in and set up shop whilst there!

After that it was a quick Uber (check my post on Uber if you haven't used it, you must!) off to Merchant City to check some of their thrift shops. I bought the most gorgeous and very Bear like fur coat and Kelly nabbed a mint green Ted Baker coat.. it was a thrift haul Haven!

That just leads me to sign off and tell you to look out for my post about the Glenfich event soon.

Fashion TV- finally!

With so many fashion and design shows on our screens it seems about Time we had our own channel right? Well its taken its sweet time, but finally we will be able to have a whole channel dedicated to Fashion, thanks to Apple TV.
Made to Measure  will be one of the many channels  available when the new Apple TV box launches in  December.  The company have already bought the rights to footage from runway shows from top designers as well as show casing 'fashion' documentaries such as Tom Fords  'A Single Man ' and 'Valenino: The Last Emperor'
'Tea at the Beatrice' will be a show aired on M2M a series with GQ's 'The Style Guy' Glen O'Brein interviewing a host of fashions elite.

M2M will not just be broadcasting they are producing also.  'The Battle of Verailles - a Documentary' will be high on the list of my ones to watch!

If you haven't heard about THAT famous fashion show in '73, then keep your eyes peeled for my Fashion Hero posts coming soon!

Season Change

I'm on bed rest for the week, so I have  been catching up with lots of stuff! One thing that's got me thinking is next season. I KNOW,  I know, summer hasn't even arrived yet to Scotland and I'm thinking fall! Well, it's actually not a bad thing if your a thrifty shopper. It's sale time and since I'm not on my feet I'm online shopping. I'm  looking for crossover pieces that will take me into winter, but what does Winter fashion have it store for us?

For fall 2016 the 70s will cross over, so keep any dresses, skirts and trousers the will move effortlessly from summer to winter. Adding in tights, turtlenecks, fur and wide-brimmed hats to bring it up to date. Think bohemian, hippy, retro, folk, add in details like fringing, bold 70's prints. Layer up on those cold days with turtle necks, they are big for winter.

The 'Mod' look is strong this fall which I'm super happy about, this is one of my favourite eras, I would say my legs are my best feature, so I'm always happy to get the pins out in a short skirt.  Black and white colour block will be in stores which lend itself to the mod look also. When switching up your style in the cold months from your bohemian winter look take yours must have turtle neck add in the micro mini and you have the perfect Mod outfit. Not a fan of the micro, then the midi and even floor length, look out for pleats and ruffles. Watch out for the new Carwash pleat hitting stores.

Fur is a big thing this year, which I'm very pleased about, Emma loves her fur! Fur stoles and fur cuffs (trying not to laugh) were found on the catwalks, pockets were enlarged in contrasting colour of fur and leather (I'm looking into different fur colours myself, I'm thinking of making a few wee accessories for my winter Popup). Feathers were also seen, from hems on trousers to full-on feather skirts and even working its way to he upper half! I'm big chested so will skip that, but I'm looking forward to seeing what fur minis are available to buy. Keep it simple and team it with a turtleneck, see, the turtleneck is a recurring theme this winter, so stock up on colours! If fur isn't your bag baby, then padding will keep you warm in the winter months and belted wool wrap coats will suit everyone and show off your curves.

High waists are here to stay, and on the pant front we are looking at tailored wide, flared and skinnies. Huzzah a look all shapes can rock this winter! Grey is a big colour this season, so look out for many tones to drop in the shops. I'm going to be keeping an eye out in the charity's shops for nice wools, and tweeds! Get looking now, before winter kicks in! Look out for oversized and masculine pieces while shopping. Culottes are moving into winter too so hold onto those more classic styles from summer.

Leather is big and if you have the figure to carry it off then get rocking those leather skinnies, failing that its leather anything! Yay! Skirt, dresses and coats and knee high and thigh is back, so dust your vintage classics from your wardrobe and start strutting! Autumnal colours are what you are looking for in leather and suede and that good old trusty classic black will always be a winner. I have my eyes on some thigh high maroon suede boots!! Eeeeeek! Must not get excited about winter!

Accessories this fall will see us rocking braces, sus-spend- dors to our American friends! Wide belts are back, which is great for achieving a fabulous waist and showing off those curves! Stock up tights too, all styles, perfect for adding to you micro mini! Ladylike jewellery and embellishment will be popping up everywhere.

It is an exciting season this Fall! I find sometimes certain body shapes are neglected, but there is something for everyone this year!

I took myself online and found Topshop, River Island, Zara, H&M and ASOS for some bargains that will take you into winter.  I want it ALL god damn it!!

Happy shopping.

Enough winter talk, where's that bloody sun...?

Sucker for a SALE

I am a SUCKER for a sale; anyone I know will tell you that. I will always find a bargain. I am a thrifty shopper. Nothing wrong with that, right? Don't get me wrong I will drop money for an item, but why spend a lot if you don't always have to. I love a good rummage in a second hand store; this is where it all stemmed from. I tend not to shop with people as they get bored. To find a bargain means looking through every single item on every single rail. My sister laughs at me, if I find a bargain in let’s say Topshop or H&M etc but it’s not in my size, I will hunt it down until I find it, and I usually do. In London and New York there are more shops to find the size, colour, shoe that you want. Different cities have different sales, are you aware of this? Most chain stores have their regional buyer who will hand pick for their area. Think about it, we in Edinburgh have a little bit of a different style than say Newcastle so, as well as having the obvious trends, each buyer will buy more or less of certain styles. You can see so many different styles in say London, just going from East to West. Chasing a bargain involves a lot of walking, but I am prepared to put that effort in! Top tips? Always check the floor in a sale section, clothes get crammed and fall off hangers, also check the changing rooms, that massive rail of items to be returned to floor is a great. Check all around the store too. My eyes are like Terminator now I can just scan a long a rail. I can spot an item that's not supposed to be on that particular rack real quick. Jeez as I write this I'm thinking 'what a loser!' Ha ha! Soooo anyway, back to tips. Best times maybe obvious, first thing in the morning is good as everything is back where it should be on the rails clean and tidy, which makes for a quicker shop.
Also good to know that all high street shops that are a chain have different sales on. So it’s without a doubt worth checking all shops out, this is the same with online too. Remember online now there is pretty much a sale section all year round. You can always pick up staple items for winter in summer and winter in summer.

Second hand store are a little different, be prepared to look through EVERYTHING every time. Again people will hide items in different sections, or even just not put back in the correct place. My summer buy in winter works well in vintage store as prices a dropped out of season check my post I wrote about my favourite thrift store in Brooklyn.

Do you have any tips for a bargain shopper ?
Thanks for reading, B x
